Since I was a kid, I thought that a medicine commercial couldn’t be funny, witty, or engaging. Was it just me, or were health products advertisements in the 90s really boring?
It all changed in the 2010s. Cannes Lions started the Film Craft category in 2010, later joined by Branded Content & Entertainment. Clio Health Awards were founded in 2009, and with global industry competition came creative innovation.
To compile this list, I also studied the archives of Healthcare Advertising Awards, PM Society Awards, and The One Show.
Why Emotions Matter in a Medicine Commercial
Besides accolades and reviews, I noted the emotional components of the spots. Given that EEG-backed research has shown that mixed emotions have higher average attention levels, reaching 42–53%, I find it crucial for the health products advertisements to be emotionally resonant.
In the same study, 77% of participants showed a rising engagement pattern in their brain data due to emotional seesaws in the video content.
But enough with data. Below, you can find 15 video ads for health products and services that I personally find engaging, along with their accolades and premiere dates.
For skimmers: medicine commercials on TV, aired during SB LX, come last.
Best Medicine Commercials with Accolades
Vaseline Verified
🏆 Cannes Lions Health & Wellness Grand Prix
Mid-2024
Vaseline took 6K viral user‑generated “hacks” and turned them into lab‑style experiments, validating or debunking them in playful medical commercials.
Praised for turning social chaos into science‑backed content, the campaign repositioned Vaseline as a trusted beauty expert.
Big skincare brands may have snorted at the beginning of the Vaseline TikTok boom, but he who laughs last, laughs best.
“Scrolling Therapy” by Eurofarma
🏆 Cannes Lions Pharma Grand Prix
Early 2023
A Parkinson’s medicine commercial should, at best, give hope. Eurofarma’s digital tool had a great opportunity to do this, and it turned out perfect. Scrolling social feeds using facial expressions may seem weird to an outsider. But to the patients and their close ones, it’s about reframing therapy as everyday interaction.
Over 1B media impressions and an 88% engagement rate, trade and media buzz, a grand prix—Eurofarma nailed hope by infusing it with authenticity and light-hearted humor.
Partners Life “Last Performance”
🏆 Cannes Lions Health & Wellness Grand Prix
Mid-2023
Above, you can watch “Lynley,” Episode 3. But this punchy life‑insurance campaign has several more medical commercials of the same concept. It not only confronts audiences with mortality, but also gives a slight morgue-horror cortisol boost. Or is it just me, who was scared for Christina Ricci in After.Life?
Life insurance isn’t that hard to trade when you make it memorable.
Biogen’s “Friedreich’s Back” Health Products Advertisements
🏆 Cannes Lion Pharma Gold, over 5K visits to the Skyclarys product website in the first 3 weeks
Mid-2025
The Skyclarys product was advertised with a dark comedy mini-series. The 19th-century researcher of Friedreich’s ataxia, Nikolaus Friedreich, rises from the grave in modern times. Only to find out a rare neurological condition is named after him.
Funny, educational, engaging advertisements for health products.
“Your Attention, Please” by Novartis
🏆 Clio Health: Gold Integrated Campaign, Silver Creative Strategy, Bronze Effectiveness/Film
Feb 2025 (Super Bowl LIX)
One of Novartis’ first Super Bowl medical TV commercials focused on breast cancer screening awareness. The message delivery is on point; attention is grabbed at once.
Klick Health “The Trial”
🏆 Cannes Lion Health & Wellness Bronze
Shortlisted in “All* In Action Fund: Health & Wellness”
Early 2025
This short film isn’t a medical commercial per se. It reimagines recent political attacks on women’s rights as 17th-century Salem witch hunts.
The script is composed of modern-day quotes from anti-abortion politicians, but it’s the sense of looming threat and crisis conveyed via acting, color grading, and cinematography that hits the hardest.
“Diversitree” Medicine Commercial by Claritin
🏆 Cannes Lions Health & Wellness Gold
2023
This healthcare and medicine commercial has the cutest voiceover and a strong call to environmental action. Trees produce pollen, but nature is not against humans. Even a kid can understand the possibility that they have to change the world for the better.
The medicine commercial inspires and urges you to take steps to defy your allergy in a non-pharmaceutical way.
Bodyform, “Never Just a Period”
🏆 1 Cannes Lion Health & Wellness Gold + 3 Bronze
2025
This medical commercial fuses live-action, stop-motion, and animation. It resonates with girls and women across countries and ages. The scenes trigger memories, make you laugh, make you feel sympathy, and much more. A good roller-coaster for intimate hygiene advertising.
“47” – Café Joyeux
🏆 Gold Clio Health, New York Festivals
Mid-2025
I couldn’t help but include this healthcare and medicine commercial in the list.
Over 100 artists worked in production since the characters and sets were handmade. Stop-motion commercials for medications will always remind me of childhood. The story itself evokes compassion for the protagonist, tension when he is challenged by his peers, and relief and joy when he finds his place.
This exact emotional seesaw is what I mentioned earlier as being scientifically proven to hook viewers.
“Live Life in the Green with Healtheries”
2025
A 2D world associates green supplements with vitality and nature. I can’t call this style of commercials for medications minimalist, but it has a certain cozy charm in its color palette and smooth motion animation.
“PAINIMALS” by Roche & Chugai
🏆 Best Entry in Pharma, PM Society Awards
2022
This animation-enhanced medical commercial may not necessarily appeal to adults who don’t have kids with arthritis. Its target audience isn’t kids, either. But animal metaphors for pain conditions will definitely grab the attention of patients with a history of arthritis in their family or close circle.
The subtlety that brings together live-action and animation invites the viewers to reevaluate their attitude toward pain management and symptom severity. Pain is known to all of us, but how do you describe it? For kids, it’s especially hard. This medicine commercial evokes sympathy, curiosity, pride—for humans’ creative resourcefulness.
Best Super Bowl LX Ads for Health Products & Services
“Relax your tight end.” by Novartis
Feb 2026
Medicine commercials on TV with NFL stars aren’t that rare. But when you soundtrack it with a song by Enya, you touch something deep. Good humor, benevolence, trust in the future. Pinch it with an unexpected twist for a memeable flair.
Because when life throws you serious challenges, a hearty laugh is worth gold.
Octavia Spencer and Sofia Vergara in a Boehringer Ingelheim’s Ad
Feb 2026
Commercials for medications can be VFX-heavy. This one is a legit action thriller spreading kidney diagnostic and condition awareness. With a touch of humor, too: Octavia and Sofia have intense comedic chemistry.
Dove: “The Game Is Ours”
Feb 2026
YouGov Buzz Lift: Overall Ad Impact Score is #2 (40.6) among women.
Dove knows how to make SB advertisements for health products. This year, it used raw athlete sounds (breathing, impacts) instead of music. As a successor to Dove’s “Real Beauty,” “The Game Is Ours” addresses how body criticism pushes girls from sports.
Novo Nordisk’s “A New Way” Medicine Commercial
Feb 2026 (Super Bowl LX)
These medical TV commercials star Kenan Thompson, DJ Khaled, Danielle Brooks, John C. Reilly, and Danny Trejo. It compares the Wegovy Pill launch to other easy-to-swallow solutions that, however, don’t exist yet. SNL-level humor inspires viewers to stop seeing obesity as an unsolvable life challenge.
To engage viewers, a medicine commercial must not only affect them emotionally, but also have appealing visuals and legible captions. Another good strategy is to build on humor and compassion, though it may not suit all products and services.
To be broadcast, medicine commercials on TV need to adhere to strict FDA restrictions and rules, which is hard without an expert-led production service. That’s why health, beauty, and skincare brands often have to sacrifice visual attractiveness for broadcast compliance.
